Gryphonheart Addons
Purpose
The purpose of the Gryphonheart Addons is to add flexible elements into the game, in order to aid roleplaying immersion. The addons is in other words some tools that can add certain elements into the game to give roleplayers more freedom and options. Examples of this could be the faction system GHR that adds used made factions into the game.
Origien
The Gryphonheart addons began with Gryphonheart Reputation, which where developed as a part of the Gryphonheart Empire roleplaying project on the Sha'tar. As the project evolved, several other addon concept where developed in order to support the project and provide gameplay. The reason for this can be read in the Gryphonheart Development report. Even though the project where closed because of inactivity in october, the addons is still being made, one by one. They are modulated to be dynamic and suitable for the whole RP community.
Project addons and single addons.
Overall the Gryphonheart addons can be divided into two kind of addons. Addons for single users and addons for whole projects/guilds. An example on an addon for a whole project is GHR (reputation), while example of singler user addons is Gryphonheart Itemsystem and Gryphonheart Quests. Ofcause also the single user addons benifits more when more people is using it, but they dont have to have any project data.
Project data
For project addons it is vital to share a set of data for the whole project. This is done by giving each dataset a version (the time they where last modified), comparing the versions to other players versions and then share it. This happends when the addon detects another player, when that player says something in a channel etc. With this method it can take some minutes before all online players are updated with the data, but that is not a problem if the project is small or the data update is not vital. Also, this method avoid the use of any data channel, since the number of avaliable channels are limited.
This datasharing method is build in inside the Gryphonheart Reputation addon. After the development of that, there have been created a seperate dynamic datasharing module called Gryphonheart Datasharing. This includes all the build in datasharing in GHR and also some data about the total numbers of users.
