Interview with Moiyra Wyndraven

Greetings readers of Pilus.info. As you know, we will be updating the page with articles as part of interresting features, which will include updates, and from time to time, interviews with interresting people using the AddOn. I’ve had the pleassure of meeting with miss Moiyra Wyndraven of The Velvet Fox, and ask her about her guild and its use of GHI. The Velvel Fox is an eatery or restaruant guild on the Argent Dawn. Without further delay, i invite you to take a look at the interview itself.
Miss Moiyra, thank you for taking your time to answer a few questions about your guild. I know you are a busy lady, with many things to do at the Velvet Fox!
Let me first ask you, how did you discover the AddOn, GHI?
I was RPing one day and someone was selling a newspaper in Stormwind. So i asked if i could (have) one, naturally, and that’s when i was introduced to GHI! So i went to download it, and at the time i was using WoW-matrix, but i found it, installed it, and started messing around.

What was your first impression of the AddOn?

It was difficult, but i started out with the basics, such as buffs and emotes. But there was so many options.

Among those many options, which would you say is your favorite, which you find most fascinating?

I think the one that impressed me the most, but which i had no idea how functioned, and what made it work, was a Gnomish Music Device. When clicked, it would play in-game sounds such as the Remnant of the Highborne (Lady Sylvanas’ Song). I really loved it! The next best thing was writing stories and turning them into books, or copying books from the world to have as a little archive.

You run a guild on the European server, The Argent Dawn, called the Velvet Fox. I have been made aware it is a very popular and interresting RP guild. What is it, that you do?

Well, i have run several guilds before, among them also another GHI-use related guild, but this is deffinately the most advanced one. After alot of bad experiences with running a store (as the amazing GHI items often attracted unwanted attention from muggers and thieves) i gave it a rest, but then came up with the idea of combining my two loves, running a store and food. The Velvet Fox is set, as an eatery or restaurant, where we work hard to provide authentic service and menu to the player, to give a more ’real’ feeling, in the roleplay world. Our items are mostly food and drinks, and accompanied by the service, it creates a perfect harmony. The fact that we can serve GHI items, instead of standard in-game food items, has given us much freedom to experiment with creating these authentic feelings and realities. My staff always tries to ’extend’ the GHI-food experience by comming up with new ideas and such, and at the same time provide a good service, so our food is served and accepted with a smile.

How do you think it feels to be a costumer at your eatery?

I honestly would’nt know, i never have been! (lol) but i would hope it to be a good experience.

Would you say GHI is playing a signifficant role in the RP experience that your eatery can provide?
It's quite funny actually... I have a day job anyway, but when I get back home, and start interacting with my guild, I feel very much like a proprietor. I take the guild mission seriously... and I think my guildies feel the same way. If GHI allows someone to create items that can enhance RP, having someone use GHI in an amazingly complete RP environment is just... very rare and special.

GHI plays a critical part in the success of The Velvet Fox. As I mentioned, I had a GHI-centric guild before... and this is my second attempt. The items are very much a part of the identity of the guild - that is how I see it. It's why I put such portance on it... First off, each of the items I generate has a standard outward facing info tab - the items have dish/drinks names, price tags, The Velvet Fox branding so to speak and a little note - usually anecdotal. For example, our [STRONG Ale] (a popular beverage) states that it is a "Strong Ale for Strong Males" (it was a tongue-in-cheek joke at the time) and after "The Velvet Fox" branding there's a little quote in yellow text that reads "Please drink responsibly." All these little consistent details are what I believe makes the items all the more impressive/worth while.

So GHI has been the tool that has let me create items that are the persona of the service. Once you actually 'drink' it, I've gone to lengths to generate two to three time-staggered emotes that describe to the player what their character is experiencing. In the case of the amusing [STRONG Ale], their character goes through a set of emotes that indeed suggests a strong alcoholic beverage... and a hefty belch at the end of it for effect. There's also another little fun effect I added at the end... purely harmless... but it seems to have people coming back for more! The point is that I've used GHI to create items that are experiences, not just objects. Some food items, for example, buff the character is quirky traits such as "Wine Lover", or "Sweet Tooth". You can imagine what may generate these! Further more, certain foods generate crumbs, or left over wrappers.

The experience GHI helps me generate is hopefully a complete one. The menu isn't unique. The experience should be.

Thank you, Moiyra Wyndraven, for your time.

So, as it says, the GHI AddOn has helped The Velvet Fox grow to the experience it has become for the roleplayers who head there to visit it. Already now, it has serviced many, and will continue to, in a long time. GHI is being used as a creative tool, to allow them to set things the way they want, and expand their minds, in which ways they can come up with new foods and other items.
Thank you for your time, dear reader, and i hope that you have enjoyed hearing about miss Moiyra’s grand experience with GHI, and perhaps will consider the opportunities yourself. Farewell, for now.
Kasperio.
